mare con un lungo sperone, interrompendo, circa dopo 50 km dalla foce del Tevere, l&#8217;andamento rettilineo del litorale romano. \u00c8 una piccola citt\u00e0 dall&#8217;aspetto grazioso, con una parte antica ancora cinta di mura che si addensa sulla scogliera, e una parte moderna di ville e villette che va dilatandosi sui morbidi colli retrostanti tutti folti di verde e lungo viali che contornano le spiagge. Questa \u00e8 divisa in due dal promontorio, detto Arco Muto; la spiaggia di Levante si stende dal porto in direzione nord-est per circa 1 km, a distanza emerge dalle acque il Circeo all&#8217;orizzonte. La spiaggia di Ponente, dove \u00e8 collocato l&#8217;Hotel Riviera, \u00e8 limitata a nord dalle Grotte di Nerone, camerelle in muratura ricavate dalla scogliera; in vicinanza, i resti della Villa di Nerone.
